Animals have always had a close relationship with Aussie Rules.
Opposition players, umpires & opposition supporters are often called animals.
But the biggest connection is with our Club Mascots.
The majority of Aussie Rules clubs around the world have a member of the Animal Kingdom as their mascot.
BALD EAGLE
Unfortunately many of these species are endangered, but thanks to the wonderful network of zoos, sanctuaries & wildlife reserves around the world, many breeding programmes have been successfully implemented to help preserve these magnificent creatures.
However, like a footy club, money is required to help feed, house & treat the animals.
