Aussie Rules in Egypt
Although there is no Australian rules Football played in Egypt today, there were games played by Servicemen from the A.I.F. from December 1914, until March 1915.
The players of these matches included members of the original 3rd Brigade, formed from the 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th Battalions.

One of these games, between 'Victoria' and 'Western Australia', was portrayed in the Peter Weir film 'Gallipoli'. This was shown as being played in the shadows of the Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as 'Khufu's Pyramid', the 'Pyramid of Khufu' and 'Pyramid of Cheops'.

The A.I.F. were stationed at Giza while they prepared for the Gallipoli landing.
