The Morgan Cadell Football Club will be closing its doors after the Mid Murray Football Association was forced to disband this week.
|
Club president Les Marr says a shortage of older players has made it impossible for it to have a senior team in another league.
Mr Marr says the situation is particularly hard for the younger players, who will likely have nowhere to compete, unless they can travel and be accepted into a team further away.
"There's no where for them to go. A lot of people are devastated that it's got to this stage," he said.
"Our numbers have been getting worse and worse but you can only do so much ... if the Mid-Murray had continued into the next season, whilst we would've been struggling, we still would've got a side together and that's the whole idea of it, keep the seniors going to keep the kids playing."
Mr Marr says they are hoping to keep the club committee going and hold some sort of community sports events in the towns.
