Shock A.F.L. merger in 2011 stuns fans
The ramifications of Gold Coast FC's entry into the Australian Football League has caused the shock announcement of a merger between two of the Leagues most popular clubs on the eve of the 2010 season.
In a shock announcement, Richmond president Garry March and Collingwood president Eddie McGuire held a joint press conference at the M.C.G. this morning announcing that due to significant financial pressures on both AFL sides, they intend to merge for season 2011, allowing the AFL to avoid the bye with the introduction of Gold Coast FC and providing Collingwood and Richmond fans with a sustainable, profitable and powerful football operation.

The clubs will seperate when the Western Sydney FC is admitted into the competition in 2012.

The new entity will be permitted to keep all of their playing lists, with Richmond entering a team into the VFL competition on a temporary basis, while keeping Coburg as a third Reserves team club.
Collingwood will also keep their VFL team.

Although no details have been released as yet, it is believed the new club jumper will feature black stripes with alternating yellow and white stripes.

No logo has been designed as yet, but there are very strong rumours that the side will be
known as the Tigerwoods and will f**k everybody and everything.
