PDL Toll collected their first ever trophy by winning the 2010 AFL Timor-Leste (A.F.L.T.L.) Lightning Premiership.
|
Below are the full results of each game.
Game 1 PDL Toll 8.0.48 def RAFA Banana 6.6.36
Goals PDL: Ian 3, Zero 2, MJ 1 Goals RAFA: Marciel 3, Inor 3 Best PDL: Zero, Adellio, Ian Best: RAFA: Marciel, Inor, Iza
In the first game, a slightly under done RAFA took on a peachy keen PDL. It was a flat out high scoring scappy affair, but not without its highlights. For RAFA their two marquee players Marciel and Inor put on an absolute show, while for PDL, their performance was more well rounded with all players on the park putting in good contributions. The final score was a little flattering for RAFA, as PDL took their foot of the gas to save themselves for their next match.
Game 2 East Dili Eels 4.0.24 lost to RAFA Banana 9.0.54
Goals RAFA: MJ 7 Inor 1 Ian Iza 1 Goals Eels: T Dyer 2, Joao c 1, Doug 1 Best RAFA: Marciel, Inor, MJ Best: Eels: Darian, Joao C, Dylan F
The Eels certainly looked like a team that have taken two months off footy and one that had indulged during every minute of their break. Only Barretu from RAFA could been judged in worse shape than the likes of Dyer, Hakim and Draper. The match certainly put a new angle on the AFLTL, with bulk being out and speed the new theme. The Eels struggled to keep with RAFA for the first half and in the second half, they were totally blown away. The final score flattered the Eels and if RAFA had kicked straight it could have been even uglier for the boys from Licedere.
Game 3 East Dili Eels 2.0.12 lost to PDL Toll 3.0.18
Goals PDL: Ian 2, Inor 1 Goals Eels: T Dyer 1 , Joao C 1 Best PDL: Antonio S, Zero, Ian Best Eels: Darian, Marciel, Joao C
The final match of the lightening cup saw an exhausted Eels taking on PDL. Feeling pity for the team that his boys had just decimated, Barretu lent AFLTL young gun Marciel to them. He was the difference and kept the Eels within a goal from PDL. However the pride of Antonio Sarmento and his boys was far to strong for the Eels , and they stormed home in the last few minutes, dominating the play and starving the Eels of an opportunity to kick the equaller.
A big thanks to the AFLTL sponsors JSSPORTS, AFL NT, GRM and Mooney valley shire for putting on the event, and Rotary for the new balls
