ST.KILDA SCRAP MOVE TO FRANKSTON OVAL
St.Kilda F.C. have scrapped plans to move base to Frankston Oval in 2010, after the cost of developing the new site increased by more than AU$5 million, and will now build a new base at Belevedere Park in the neighboring suburb of Seaford.
The new oval will be built to M.C.G. configurations and will include an indoor sports stadium, pool & gymnasium. It is expected to cost more than AU$11 million, and will be jointly funded by the club, the A.F.L., Victorian State Government and the Frankston City Council. It is hoped to be operational by 2010, with most of the venue available for public use. The venue is expected to be named after St.Kilda legend, Robert Harvey, who began his career at Seaford.
