Thrilling Finish To Herald Sun Semi Final. Assumption Through To M.C.G Final.
A thrilling last quarter by Assumption saw them home by 8 points against De La Salle. This now puts Assumption into the M.C.G Final where they will take on Essendon Keilor College.

Assumption started strongly, while De La Salle kicked its chances away with an appauling amount of inaccuracy and only managed 1 goal for the first half. Luke Gestier lead well from the forward line and presented well, and with support from forward pocket players Liam Ryan and Tallan Wright Assumption looked dangerous. They were in control for 3/4 of the 1st half, and the defence work of Sam Vale and Seth Hill was tremendous in assuring De La Salle had as little time in front of goal as possible. The 1st Quarter was fairly even bu Assumption with there noses in front. The 2nd term however was certainly Assumptions, not letting De La Salle get a goal, while the forward line of Gestier and Wright assured a challenge was put to De La Salle. The midfield continued to work hard, lead superly by captain Jamie Sheahan, and the exceptional run by Will Holman and Jackson Garvey-Hawke. At half time the lead had streched out to a 22 point Assumption lead and it looked as though they could run away to an easy win. But come 2nd half it was a whole new ball game. As De La Salle kicked 5 unanswered goals in 7 minutes and suddenly De La Salle where in front by 8 points. Assumption would only kick 1 goal that quarter while De La Salle had a handy lead going into the final term. Assumption had worked so hard to get this far and where not at any point thinking of giving up. They came out firing in the final term and a thrilling contest was on. But they diffining moment came when Vice Captain and CHB player Sam Vale got a lose handball from Midfielder Simon Collis and slotted a goal from 10 meters out to put Assumption 1 point up. Nerves were now building up insides players and supporters as the game could go anyway, but the ceiling goal came from full forward Luke Gestier. As he marked in the dying minutes. 35-40 meters out and on slight angle. Assumption where up by 1 point at this stage and he would have to kick this goal to give them some breathing space. He kicked truley and Assumption had enough time to hold on to win a courages and heartstoping game by 8 points. As the siren sounded enthusiastic supporters and jubilent players leaped over the fence and soaked in the joy of knowing they would be playing on the famous M.C.G. Assumptions next challenge is cellar dwellars Camberwell, which they will have to win by 15 goals, to have a chance at an AGSV Priemership. This will be Assumptions 14th M.C.G apperance (an Australian record) and it is a credit to the tireless work the players and the effort they have put in.
