Football at Assumption College Kilmore (or ACK) has a long and proud tradition. Expanding for more than 100 years and producing more than 140 players to the ranks of VFL/AFL. On July 23 they will play De La Salle College Malvern. For a place in the MCG Grand Final.
Assumption'st First XVIII have been playing well, with only one loss in the AGSV (Associated Grammer Schools of Victoria) to last years premiers PEGS (Penleigh Essendon Grammer School) The former school of Richmond's promising Trent Cotchin. There last win against Marcellin College Bullen, puts them in contention for the priemiership. Marcellin are yet to play PEGS and from what this writer knows, I think PEGS should defeat Marcellin fairly easily. Assumptions performance in the Herald Sun Shield Competion has been excelent. They deafeted PEGS earlier this year, then had a narrow win by 3 points over Catholic College Bendigo and easily accounted for St. Patricks Ballarat. That now puts them only one loss away from playing at the MCG in August. De La Salle has produced some fine footballers as well, none more noticable than Richmond legend Jack 'Captain Blood' Dyer. This match promises to be a great one, and with great emerging talent from both sides it will be a high standard of football, and a wonderful game to watch. The match will be at TEAC Oval- Port Melbourne.
