AFL SAMOA PROGRAMS POPULAR WITH GIRLS
AFL Samoa's football programs proved to be extremely popular with girls during 2007, with over 2250 female participants participating.

(Above) The future of Samoan Women's Football. Four of the 2250-plus female participants of AFL Samoa's 2007 football programs.
The programs were very successful in teaching the basic skills and concepts of Aussie Rules to the girls, hopefully providing a basis for future girls and women's competitions in Samoa.
In fact females are having a big influence in the advancement of the game in Samoa, with four female school principals including Australian Rules Football into their schools' curriculum.
But probably the biggest influence in the country would be the reappointment of Samoa's 2005 International Cup coach, Milanui Feaunati.
She will returning to Melbourne this year (2008) to coach the Samoan national male team, The Bulldogs, in the 2008 International Cup.
Milanui gained a lot of exposure in the Australian press on her last visit because of her unique position as a female coach of a men's national team.
It will be the Samoan's third attempt at winning the title, and we wish them well.
